Networks of Knowledge
Nā Pūnaewele ʻIke
In this time of concerning and conflicting view points, how do we—practitioners and advocates of human literacy—make sense of and communicate what people should know about, take care of, and take action on?
This year's HLA Fall Conference invites participants to traverse networks of knowledge, located in real life and online, in different places and sites, among different peoples who carry diverse ways of knowing.
How can our encounter and engagement with challenging issues or distinctive ideas lead us to reconceptualize or transform our understanding? For example: from dwindling federal investment for information fields and public education to cultivating waiwai (prosperity) in our local information ecosystems; from concerns about human dependence on artificial intelligence to reclaiming our agency with technology through data sovereignty? How can we build our literacy on Hawaiian Kingdom history to empower poetic possibilities in a globalized Hawaiʻi?
We call on HLA and allied information workers to reflect and respond—what are you navigating and charting ways forward for our field?
